Human performance culture

Close

Designing a modern Formula 1 car is all about technical innovation, attention to detail and optimisation to a degree uncommon in most other arenas. However, that latent performance is worth nothing if it can not be accessed and exploited by the driver.

Projects are often diverse and McLaren Applied Technologies can provide a design team with core disciplines including product design, mechanical engineering, software development, electronic development, data handling, material technologies & technology strategy. We also have the possibility to draw resource from our Group engineering & analysis departments. Our manufacturing & test facilities make possible to prototype and optimise low volume product concepts.

Projects described to the right are just some of the ways in which we have given a competitive advantage by applying our human performance culture outside the race track.

Biomechanics
The 'Gen3' brace was developed for a US customer to speed up post-operative rehabilitation. McLaren Applied Technologies combined a lightweight carbon leg brace with micro-hydraulics to precisely control the patient's knee.
Medical Applications
Wireless remote patient monitoring enables high quality human vital sign data to be collected remotely worldwide. This enabling technology opens the door to far more comprehensive patient information and improved disease management.
Sports Equipment
Working with an Olympic team, we optimised the performance and man/machine interface of sports equipment by applying the principles & facilities used to develop Formula 1 racing cars.
